The European Dementia Carers Working Group met in Brussels for their first in-person meeting!

21/03/2023

On 21 and 22 March, Alzheimer Europe was extremely pleased to welcome the members of the newly launched European Dementia Carers Working Group in Brussels for their first in-person meeting. On the first day, the members got to know each other a bit better and went through some of the group procedures and plans for the upcoming two years. The members also elected Sonata Mačiulskytė and Trevor Salomon who will take on the roles of the Group’s Chair and Vice-Chair, respectively, for the next two years. The following day, members participated in discussions about dementia risk disclosure and communication, and trust in Artificial Intelligence and data sharing. Soraya Moradi-Bachiller and Ange Bradshaw provided an overview of the Pattern-Cog and Virtual Brain Cloud projects and laid out how the members’ feedback will be used in the context of these two research initiatives. All members were very engaged during the consultations and provided valuable contributions. Alzheimer Europe is very much looking forward to working with the group over the next two years and making sure that carers’ voices are heard across research and other Alzheimer Europe activities.
