4 September: French Government launches neurodegenerative diseases strategy

The French Government has launched a national neurodegenerative strategy 2025-2030, aiming to support the approx. 1.5 million people affected by neurodegenerative diseases (including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and related diseases) living in France. The strategy notes that by 2050, the number of people with neurodegenerative diseases is expected to double.

11 September: European Parliament hosts debate on a European strategy for addressing Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia

On 11 September, the European Parliament hosted a Plenary Debate on the subject of “a European strategy for addressing Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia”. The debate was opened by the Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, Piotr Serafin, who outlined some of the current actions of the European Commission in relation to dementia.

A French language version of our guide to help raise awareness of issues around sex, gender and sexuality in dementia was published on 21 September 2025, marking World Alzheimer's Day. Our members across Europe also celebrated this important date in the dementia calendar, in myriad creative and inspiring ways.
