13 May: Alzheimer Europe joins InRAD call to European Medicines Agency on Alzheimer’s registries

Inrad logoAlzheimer Europe has signed a statement coordinated by the InRAD (International Registry for Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias) Foundation, welcoming the approval of lecanemab in Europe and recognising the need to address questions surrounding its clinical use, including its safety and effectiveness in the real world.


23 May: Austria publishes Dementia Report 2025

Austrian Dementia report 2025 coverA new Austrian Dementia Report 2025 provides a detailed analysis of healthcare provision, social support, as well as examining the living conditions of people with dementia and informal caregivers. The report was developed by Gesunheidt Österreich on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection.


23 May: World Health Assembly approves six-year extension to the Global Action Plan on the Public Health Response to Dementia

Global Action Plan coverOn 23 May 2025, during the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva (Switzerland), a six-year extension to the Global Action Plan on the Public Health Response to Dementia was adopted. This followed a recommendation adopted by the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) in February of this year.

Alzheimer Europe has newly launched a public opinion poll examining attitudes towards dementia research participation and data sharing.
