6 March: European People’s Party manifesto contains European dementia plan commitment

On 6 March, at its Congress in Bucharest, Romania, the European People’s Party adopted its Manifesto for the European Parliament elections 2024. The document contains a commitment to develop a European dementia plan, which aligns with Alzheimer Europe's long-standing call for the development and implementation of a European dementia strategy. We hope other European parties will include similar commitments in their manifestos.

19 March: Ten MEPs attend our reception at European Parliament and sign Dementia Pledge 2024

We invited MEPs to join us on 19 March 2024, at our reception in the European Parliament in Brussels, hosted by MEPs Milan Brglez (Slovenia), Deirdre Clune (Ireland), Tilly Metz (Luxembourg) and Sirpa Pietikäinen (Finland). The event highlighted why dementia must be prioritised and during the reception, ten MEPs signed our Dementia Pledge, as part of our European Elections Campaign 2024.

27 March: The European Alzheimer’s Alliance of MEPs is growing!

As part of our campaign in the run-up to the European elections, a number of existing Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have signed up to the Dementia Pledge 2024 and joined the European Alzheimer’s Alliance (EAA). We are delighted to welcome ten new EAA members, who signed the Pledge during March.

31 March: We are delighted with progress made so far on our European Election Campaign 2024

Alzheimer Europe 2024 EU Elections campaign graphicIn advance of the European Parliament elections between 6 and 9 June 2024, we are running a European Election Campaign 2024, aiming to make dementia a priority issue for decision-makers at a European level. We are delighted with the support for all three branches of the campaign (the Helsinki Manifesto, a public Call to Action, and the Dementia Pledge) so far, with a noticeable increase in support this month.
