10 March: Our ethical communications guidelines available in Italian

An Italian version of Alzheimer Europe's new set of guidelines for the ethical and inclusive communication about/portrayal of dementia and people with dementia has been published, translated by Alzheimer Italia. The guidelines were developed in tandem with the European Working Group of People with Dementia. Alzheimer Italia is now distributing the guide as part of the standard material that it gives to journalists.

14 March: EPND project launches its “Cohort Catalogue”

On 14 March, the European Platform for Neurodegenerative Diseases (EPND) launched its Cohort Catalogue. Featuring an extensive list of international cohorts across the neurodegenerative disease spectrum, the Cohort Catalogue is a central, open, accessible repository for researchers to discover ongoing studies and search metadata by disease area, biosample availability, imaging and cognitive data, and more.

20 March: Armenia has its first National Dementia Plan!

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia (RA) and Alzheimer's Disease International, Alzheimer's Care Armenia (ACA) has developed a National Dementia Plan, which demonstrates a significant step forward in ACA's ongoing efforts to support people with dementia.

21 March: Our lunch debate focuses on BPSD in dementia care

The Alzheimer Europe lunch debate of 21 March 2023, focusing on “Dealing with behavioural and psychological symptoms (BPSD) in dementia care”, was a hybrid event hosted by Sirpa Pietikäinen MEP (Finland), Chairperson of the European Alzheimer’s Alliance (EAA) and Deirdre Clune MEP (Ireland), Vice-Chairperson of the EAA.

21-22 March: Our new carers’ group holds its first in-person meeting

On 21 and 22 March, Alzheimer Europe was extremely pleased to welcome the members of the newly launched European Dementia Carers Working Group in Brussels for their first in-person meeting, allowing the group to get to know each other and discuss plans. They also held elections, choosing Sonata Mačiulskytė and Trevor Salomon as Chair and Vice-Chair respectively.
